What
is University 1020?
It is a one-credit hour career class offered fall and spring semesters.
Classes have only 18 students to allow individualized attention
to each student's career development.
What
will you learn in University 1020?
You
will learn to do the following:
1. Identify your values, transferable skills, self-management skills, and personal strengths
2. Research careers and evaluate career options
3. Develop your interviewing skills
4. Interview professionals in areas of your career interest
5. Write a resume for a summer or part-time job
6. Enhance your decision-making skills
7. Understand the career development process
8. Develop an action plan to help you achieve your career goals
Who
would benefit most from University 1020?
Students who are struggling with decisions regarding major/minor
or career choice, and those who are confused about all the possibilities
or are unsure how to begin investigating them will benefit most
from University 1020.

Students will use
DISCOVER,
a computerized career guidance system. In addition, a career "test
" will be used in University 1020.

of Classes under University Curriculum. University 1020 was developed
and is coordinated by faculty in the University Counseling and Testing
Center.
